First, I see the Chicago Cubs becoming the 2007 National League Central Divisoin Champions.
Second, I see the Chicago Cubs becoming the 2007 National League Champions.
Finally, I see the Chicago Cubs winning their First World Series (the 2007 World Series) in 99 Years.

good question! every year, hope looms in chicago, but some how the cubs wind up in last place! after 100 years, you would think it is time for the cubs to have a winner. they signed lou pinella, upgraded their lineup, and on paper, seem like they can compete with the others in division. after all. the st. louis cardinals won the world series with the worst record ever, at 83-78. that is pathetic for a champion! i thin k the cubbies will start out fast, and perhaps be in first place in june, but in second half, LOOK OUT! injuries and bd play will once again be the story for the chicago cubs, who will finish with maybe 77 wins and 85 losses, and for the 100th year, NOT! BE IN THE WORLD SERIES ! if you are from chicago, and are a cub fan, i would start drinking alcohol heavily, because you will be frustrated one more year, you sorry, pathetic excuse of a sports fan!

Chances are Pinella will have the Cubs where he had the D-Backs. Playing better than before him, but not good enough to make the postseason. The facts are that the pitching staff still is not that good. Lilly and Marquis are not stud pitchers. They just fill in gaps with 12 wins each. The Astros, Brewers, Reds, and Cardinals all have better pitching, and the Cubs have the worst defensive outfield in the Central. It will be another year of sub .500 baseball I believe.

I think if the cubs get some solid starting pitching, they will win the central, and go back to the NL championship game. That by far is the biggest variable. I think the bull pen is plenty deep enough, and offense should also be a strong point. Injuries will play a factor as well but not as much in years past. Todays negotiations with Carlos Zambrano will also play a role, Zambrano being a highly emotional player, an ugly arbitration hearing could have a negative effect on his mental focus.

The Cubs will finish in 3rd or 4th place behind St. Louis, Milwaukee and maybe Houston. Just because they signed Soriano doesnt mean anything. Ted Lily sucks, Mark DeRosa is okay and Kerry Wood is hurt again. The Cubs are gonna suck for another 100 years after this.

I believe that they will wind up with 85 to 90 wins this year. They were off to a decent start last year till D Lee went down and they have added a lot of pieces, mainly Siarano, and helped thier staff with Lilly and Marquis. But thier success hinges on what has been thier big question mark for the last 4 years...mainly Wood and Prior. If Wood can become a big time closer in a weak bullpen they may pull off the division..if Prior can regain his health and just become a no 4 starter. In a very competitive division they can win it but the Cards are still a very good team and 83 wins wont win the Central like it did last year, and with a Brewers team that stands on the prrecipice of bringing it together and the Astros are still tough. I basically see them as a wild card contender, and the big if..if they can stay healthy...they can do it

Unfortunately, the Cubs and Reds will both be looking at the wild card saying, only if...
The move to keep Zambrono obviously was a great choice, but they should be worried about their 3,4 and 5 starters. Yes, Miller, Lilly and Hill have a chance to be very good, but why do the great pitchers keep getting hurt? Maybe they should look inside their orginization. That is the real problem.

The cubs have good pitching and some good hitters, so they would win their division and perhaps make to the world series. But is still to early to tell if they would make it to the world series. But Lou pinella would make this team a winner this year. So the cubs have big expectations and they would win their division because they have better pitching than St Louis or Houston. Pitching wins in the major.

cubs have the best chance to win the divison, with all the offseason moves they have made and the lack of free-agent acqusitions by the other teams in the division. if everyone can stay healthy they by far have the best shot, and with their new manager who has won a world series, and knows what it takes to get there u never know, they have lots talent and hopefully they can put it together and win, i sure hope so at least cuz imma huge CUBS FAN!!!!

Bottom...you build a team by pitching. Woods and Prior are done and the Cubs failed to Restock. Bartman ruined your chances for the next 20 years.
