LaDainian Tomlinson!!! LT!!! No doubt.

He had over 1800 rushing yards, 31 TDs, 2 passing TDs. His 31 TDs were a record for a running back, breaking Shaun Alexander's mark set in 2005.

He was also the catalyst and main producer on the best team in the NFL. Based on record, Chargers were 14-2, best in the league.

Undeniable!

Everyone will say LT, LT is great but this past year I would have to say it was Steven Jackson of the Rams. He rushed for 1528 yards with 26 fewer carries than LT and He caught 90 receptions for 806 yards, compared to 58 and 572 from LT. I say because of His abilities recieving this year he was the best all-around back in the NFL.

It is Tomlinson hands down but since that is what ESPN.com and every other person that has an ounce of football knowledge knows and says. I will say the two guys that won the superbowl,

I CONSIDER LaDanian Tomlinson the best running back this past year and one of the top three of all-time, he scores, he moves the chains, he can catch the ball, he can elude tackles, he can outrun defenders. He is an absolute nightmare for defenses because you cannot prepare to stop him in one way. In order to stop him running you have to stack the line (put more defenders in the box), but if he motions out, you will be stuck playing man coverage with a linebacker covering LDT, not pretty. Or if you keep your defense back and let them react to where LDT goes, he will cut you up with his shiftiness and elusive moves that he uses to get into free space. Once he is in the open, good luck. LDT rarely loses a race to the goal line because he combines great speed with excellent angles to ensure that he scores or gets as close to the end zone as possible.

come on man, this is a gimme. ladainian tomlinson was without a doubt the most gamebreaking and best runningback in the nfl. he is the only reason phillip rivers didn't suck. the defenses built their whole plain around LT, which allowed rivers to do something with the ball.
no doubt in my mind, LT was the best running back this year.

LT...He's got the record for most total TD's in a season this past year...Only person that even comes close to Ladainian is Larry Johnson.
