Do you really expect to find an answer to this question, or may be you just want people to comments on the state of the world you think and feel about, and that we all find ourselves in? Some people will try to comments while others will attempt the answer the question directly, but I assure you that I can do the both.

First of all my comments: I see existence as a process, and all these things in existence prerequisites for an essential restoration or healing progression towards an ideal state in existence. It could be that at some place in time we were spiritually displaced, that we were placed into a very basic material form from our original state of being, and that now we are constantly travelling towards that ultimate destination, which I presume is our purposes in life; and that all the trials and tribulations, you mention, along this perilous journey across time and space, are but methods of refinement for our own good. We therefore should do our best and endure with patience and fortitude all that life brings to us concentrating more upon our own contribution and efforts into this grand journey human kind rather then wasting time in complaining about things.

Now, the ideas for a direct answer to your question are not easy to come by. The most obvious impression we get from the stat of the world is that there is something very wrong going on, something that we cannot do anything about. But is this really the case?
The fact I can find is that the world goes through phases of rejuvenation, reformation or restructuring every now an then, this every now and then usually is such a long period in time that we tend to forget that it does. This world, this earth that we love so much, has destroyed many that existed upon its surface before, and it will do the same yet again. The fossil records show that even before cretaceous period of dinosaurs there were at least five mega mass extinctions in the earth's evolutionary history of the Earth, where each time about 95 percent of all species were destroyed.

This is for sure that the Earth can survive, and will survive, all that human beings can cause to it, but we might not be living on it forever if, for example, the delicate balance of climate we are use to living in changes. There are also dangers of meteorites falling from the space, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mutant viruses, all caused by global temperature variations, then there are always possibilities of wars especially when earth’s resources are depleting, the causes for concern and worry are way to many.

If we do not find a way to transcend from the material world into a world that is higher in order, and better in our being, we will always be at risk; even if we manage to stabilise earth’s climate, and even if we mange to find ourselves another planet somewhere in the space the danger of annihilation will never be far from us. We have evolved in the body, but perhaps now we need to evolve in the mind, we need to see beyond what we know as real into uncharted expanses our own mind to find new capacities of being human beings.

The world does not want to destroy itself, as a planet in the solar system it is in a constant state of evolving. However the human race as a species may be approaching it's extinction. Human beings are no longer selecting the brightest, most attractive or most successful of their species as mates - the current trend seems to glorify and favour the lesser of the species. Those who achieve nothing or contribute little to society as rewarded with constant attention and wealth. Society in general is breaking down: good parenting is in decline, misfits are being created in dis functional families and misguided laws are protecting the criminals and turning the law abiding into victims.
Those who would protect the earth for future generations do not hold the power to do so. A very elite minority own most of the earth and all who live on it. They control through great wealth and manipulation be it through religion, patriotism or any other tool that the ignorant are willing to cling to. After all humans continue to cull their species with horrific acts of violence and war. They had the means to eradicate fatal diseases and chose to keep some in store for use in warfare. Humans continue to display tendencies to self distruct, the happiness they seek in order to survive constantly eludes them.

first, the world is just having fun doing its thing..

so the problem is a human problem

secondly, people dont want to destroy the world...but it is being impacted despite our wants.

if you are really concerned i would explore why humans have become more selfish and indifferent.

in my view it will be found in the link between 1.law 2.govenment and 3.economic policies.

if everytime a choice is presented between doing what is right and doing what is profitable...profitabilty wins out...you must question the laws that allow financial considerations to always prevail.
if this wsituation is allowed to endure long enough...it corrodes peoples morality so much that they feel its futile to resist the will of those who are greedy only for profit over any other consideration.

Can the world want? You are implying the world has conscious desires. And if you don't mean the world per se but the collective will of the world's people then I would have to argue that such a will does not exist. If there is any collective will of all the people of the world it is probably to exist or survive.

The people who have most of the power don't care how many other people suffer, and they don't care how trashy the world gets, as long as they get their profits. And it will probably just get worse, as bankrupted national governments are put up for sale and purchased by the huge transnational corporations of tomorrow. Then the whole world will be "company property," and if you're not a hard worker or if you don't do exactly what your boss says, you'll be summarily executed.

Oh I do so hear what you are asking!

I wish I knew!

Such a pity, because its a wonderful thing. I get so sad thinking about it all, and feel so useless - a snowflake cannot prevent an avalanche. Just do my own thing, recycling, charity work, and loving my neighbour even though it can be difficult at times.
Just think positive I guess.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

Can't speak for the whole world, but western culture is decaying which sounds like a bunch of sociological so-what, but is not - and the third world religious fanatics have nothing to lose - both factors cause people to get away from love and living as one big group or community. When that happens, it's like when your kidneys quit working or your lungs. The whole organism dies. As long as we continue to promote cheap, quick, drug or music fixes to our loneliness, we remained damned to self-destruction.

The world doesn't want to destroy itself. If it were left alone it would be very happy thank you. It is the money grabbing industrialists and politicians who are dead set on destroying the world.
