I'm a sports writer for my college's newspaper and this week I have to write a "column of my choice". I need topics people. I would write about how I'm glad Tim Hardaway said what he did but that would probably get me fired so....any suggestions?

Not a very good sport writer if you need ideas.
Plus there is nothing wrong with a player saying the he doesn't like homos.

If it's of your choice, just write your thoughts about anything sports related...Super Bowl, NBA All Star Game, Barbaro, Baseball-spring training, etc...Anything...You're a sports writer I'm guessing for a reason...Write about your favorite sports...
Minus the Tim Hardaway thing...Agreeing with him in a public sports column will get you a serious talking to by your editor and possibly the college administration...

If you can't write about what you want to write about, in this case Tim Hardaway's bigotry, then you're not really doing what you're supposed to be doing. "column of my choice" means you get to choose, so do your JOB and choose what you want to write about.

Write about women's lacrosse. It's a sport that can use a lot more publicity. Men's lacrosse is beginning to be recognized but women's lacrosse is still very obscure.
Women's college lacrosse would be great.
