no it isn't permanent. it is most similar to tweezing or waxing. Basically using piece of thread to pull the hairs out. Lasts anywhere from 3 - 8 weeks depending on the person. I hated it actually. caused me to breakout. felt like I had a rug burn on my face.

Threading is an old and inexpensive hair removal technique to shape eyebrows.
