I live in California and notice it more when I go to the east or south. There are fat people here, but it's lower than other parts of the country because people here are more health conscious. In the south where a lot of people like fried food and the east where a lot of people don't seem to care about what they eat (they laughed at me for looking at the fat content of the foods I bought) you so see some really huge people. 60% overweight includes people who are only a little fat, it doesn't mean obese. Hopefully no place has 60% obese people.

Sorry, but the majority (52%) of young people (20-34) in the U.S. are indeed overweight ((BMI > 25).
About 25% of this same age group is obese ((BMI > 30)

In general, 65% of the population is overweight & 31% is obese.
(5% are "severely" obese)

Geographically the South is the fattest, New England (heh heh) is the thinnest.

Also: More education less fat:
Fattest state - Mississippi (also the poorest)
Skinniest - Colorado (they will shoot you if you try to weigh
them)
