these are the answer choices
the 2s next to the y and xs mean squared
a)y = 2x – 10

b)(y + 1)2 + (x + 4)2 =36

c)|y| = 3x

d)None of these equations represents a function.

Well, that would be doing your homework for you, wouldn't it?

A function means for each value of x, there is one and only one value for y, right? Try graphing these equations and seeing what it looks like. If you can see a place on the graph where a line (drawn straight up and down) would hit the graph in more than one spot, that is not a function because that means there are two values for y for a single value of X. Or, see if you can find a value for x that would give more than one value for Y (try equation C).

Only one of them is a function, so the answer is not D.

a function is denoted by f

so a funcion of x is f(x)

this is where u have x as an "input" and y would be your "output" (or answer)

so in a funcion of x you would have an equation similar to

y = ( 19+3x )÷5

which means

f(x) = ( 19+3x )÷5

i think you can figure it out from here.
