-*THE term self-hypnosis is not a very useful one i.e. it does not signify anything more than self- suggestibility. It is an indication of what you desire to do, but it is not a plan of action . I think that is what you are after. If that is the case, please continue to read on. There is a technique called transcendental meditation. I think that it is the best pathway to attain stability of mind in peace, and it is the proven method to raise both intellectual and emotional creativity. Practised with regularity very early stages of it begins to produce results. Moreover, once you are into it, it is a delightful experience.
Simply put, it is the ONLY way of giving some time to yourself. Most of the time you are preoccupied with inane things which build up needless stress in your mind, so giving to yourself some 20 minutes every morning is not a big effort. If you can devote a regular place and time, all that you do is to sit on a carpet or a comfortable seat in a vertical position and begin to breathe in a measured manner. It does not cost you anything at all and you do not need any special classes to attend. It is a simple way of making use of what nature has bestowed on you. When you have finished a session you will realise that the mind has releasd tremendous energy. Over a period of time, say 2 or 3 weeks you tend to develop your own technique. The results are enormously rewarding. Any tendency to fall into depression disappears like darkness before the sun and self-pity does not bother you at all. I would most strongly recommend this to anybody. It is based on personal experience and it showed me how to conquer stress and strain. Many thanks for asking, hoping that this helps you to explore meditative experience.

Purchase some tapes.. with someone else's voice. Studies have proven that the smarter and more creative you are the better a candidate for hypnosis you will be.. I did hypnosis on a TV program in the 70's out of S.F. worked with an Assoc. Professor from UCLA.. It was a program on writers block. I was a Psychology student and was also the guinea pig.. lol.. Good luck..

I hypnotised myself to stop smoking 11 years ago( I was smoking 60 a day). It is very effective. you must have an absolutely unshakable belief in your ability to do it. You don't go into a trance as such- but recondition your mind. You need both positive and negative thoughts. The positive thoughts are your future and how you want it to be(for me, more money to spend on my kids and better health). The negatives are the things you want to change and how they will have a bad effect on your life if you do not change them. ( For me, I imagine my children alone and struggling after watching me die of cancer). The power of thought is amazing- you can change things if you believe in your inner strength. It is difficult to explain- I hope I haven't made it sound difficult. Set a date to make your change- and prepare yourself and your thoughts. Good Luck.
