My MIL is one of those "let the boys talk, come and help me in the kitchen" kind of women. No matter what time we arrive she is in the middle of something in the kitchen. I end up helping and yes she offers me the obligatory apron ( I usually wear one at home anyway) and we a do the "good housewife " thing. I prefer dresses to pants/jeans anyway and I like to dress for him when we visit, especially his parents. At larger family gatherings most of the women congregate in the kitchen, "aproned", except his younger sister who is usually drinking beer, "from a can", smoking and trading football "plays of the day" with the men. I think she is a closet quarterback!!!!

My man doesn't "allow" me to do anything without checking with him first. I must wear lingerie under a fancy dress, high heels and nylons at all times. When at his parents, I dutifully don my apron and help mom in the kitchen while he and my father inlaw drink beer and watch the playboy channel. I am a dutiful little woman whose only reason for existence is to make my man look good!!
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No sir. I may not wear pants our religion. His familiy and ours were all raised this way. I am not allowed to dress in pants at anytime. I must always wear skirts. I wore a short one last week and he was very angrey. If its above the ankle, I may not wear it. He asked me why I was wearing it and I tried to be little miss sassy by was I sorry when he pointed toward the bedroom and said "Go. I will be in there in a minute assume position." I am lucky he didnt restrict me from the computer this week too.

A woman can wear whatever she wants. Whether she is married or dating someone, the man has no right to tell her what to wear. If she wants to be comfortable then she should be allowed to change. It's the woman in the clothes that matters, now what she's wearing.

What galaxy are you from? No one dresses up for anyone else, they dress for themselves first.....especially if it "expected" of them...be casual...both in dress and conversation.
If you want something to show off, get a puppy and put a ribbon around it's neck...although come to think of it, I wouldn't want you to have a puppy either.

my husband is the only one allowed to remove my petticoats and other layers from me, he doesn't trust me to be able to get dressed on my own properly. It also makes for an oppurtune time for him to give me a little reminder spanking so that I will remember who is in charge.

Nah, when we're visiting his parents, I usually dress up. They like it better (his parents, I mean). And we only visit every so often, I can afford to dress up if it makes them more comfortable.

Casuals are better, very comfortable. You don't need to look prep up for such a visit. Simplicity is beauty.
