You should buy HEET for your gas tank. Sounds like you could have bought watered down gas.

Sounds like a clogged fuel filter. When this happens, there is usually enough gas coming into the engine so that it will run, but when you step on the accelerator, the engine becomes starved for gas and shudders and even shuts off.

Probably wouldn't hurt to throw some spark plugs and wires at it, and a new air filter if you can't recall the last time you replaced it.

You only get out of something what you put into it.

Good luck :)

All kinds of things could cause this. A shop will be able to run a code check on the engine. Usually the check engine light means that something is wrong with the pollution control.

Exhaust, fuel filter, fuel pump, even the plugs or connector wires could be the problem. You'd do best to get a tune up and/or take your car to get hooked up to a comp to find out why exactly the engine light is on.

You might as well ask a palm reader. You didn't even give the year and engine size or any maintenance history. Are we clairvoyant?
