I think it should be said the way any good friedn would say somehting like that-with kindness and delicacy. Afterall, he probbaly knows it does not look that great, but, he may feel it is better than the alternative. Ultimately, he may decide even after you kindly mention soemthing to him, that he would prefer to keep it on. If indeed you are a good friend, I hope you will respect his wishes on the too. We sometimes look at others actions and wonder, "what in the world", however, if you care about them, you just love them anyway.

A good friend deserves a good Friends opinion-tell em straight up and then leave it alone-no need for verbal dancing-just be straight out-that's what YOU would expect from a Friend right!

wear the same one it should look the same and she'll say something that way you can tell her she looks the same with it. OR tell her straight it's the best thing to do.
