The Royals will be better this year, partly because it would be difficult to be worse. When you have lost 100 games or more 4 out of 5 years there's no way to go but up.
The Royals won 62 games last year and if I had to put a number on this year, I don't think 72-75 wins is out of the realm of possibility. The bullpen is going to be better "barring injury", I don't see Dotel blowing 31 saves. The starting pitching will be at least a little better>"again, it would be tough to be worse"< and hopefully a couple of the young arms will make the opening day roster and make an impact,Greinke & Hochaver are two of the best young talented pitchers in baseball.
The offense should be better, with rookie Alex Gordon(2005 college player of the year- 2006 minor league player of the year) and Mark Teahen healthy, if Sweeney could do the same(healthy) which is doubtful, the Royals could have at least a respectable offense. The Royals know they can count on solid years from Grudzielanek, Dejesus & Brown. The sore spot for the Royals offense is their version of the killer B's >John Buck(c) & Angel Berroa(ss) >Buck is really bad, and Berroa was the worst(regular) player in baseball last year.
The Royals are not going to contend, the central division of the AL is the best in baseball, but for the first time in 5 years they should at least be interesting to watch.

It would be very hard to be as bad as they were last year. I think they can get around 75 wins give or take 5. They have some good young player like Teahan, Gordon, Shealy, Bannister and a couple decent vets. They will be over looked early in the season and surprise a few teams. But still, they are the Royals and without a serious change in ownership and philosophy they will always be a bottom half team.

72 wins this year - a 10 game improvement from last year. The Royals have some good young talent on the field. I have a hard time believing that their bullpen can be as bad this year as it was last year. They haven't made great improvements on the mound, but I think they made enough to get themselves at least 10 more wins.
Take note of all the people giving the Royals no chance to stay above that 100 loss mark. I truly believe the team is getting better and will not have triple digit losses this season.
GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the Royals will have about 65-70 wins. I think they have a lot of young talent that could be to the majors this year in Alex Gordon and Billy Butler. They seem like they are on the rise.

I'm being honest I say around 51-111 with a .315 winning percentage and the second worst record in the Major Leagues right behind the pittyful Washington Nationals. Can't our country have a decent team represent our country. I mean last year they were horrible with one of the best players in the majors, (Alfonso Soriano) and now they have no one. When your best player is either Ryan Zimmerman or Nick Johnson you know you have a major problem. Sorry but your Royals have no chance at anything. Nothing personal.

well! it has been said that what goes up, must come down! in the royals case, they have! toi get better! and they will! after all, they finished with a 3 game sweep of detroit that kept the tigers from winning the division! how much will they improve? hard to tell? the division is baseballs best, with chicago, the twins, and tigers in front of them! look for a 75-87 season. better, but they have a ways to go before being a contender!

I really hope more than they did last year, but I can't see Gil winning the amount of games the Royals are hoping for. I predict they will win 70 to 75 games.

cardsfan isn't far off. Listen...the Royals WILL be markedly better in 2007...especially if they bring up all the bats they have in the minors (Gordon, Lubanski, Butler, et. al.). They added to the pitching staff - both at the front end and back end - have shored up the catching spot, and will be tremendously improved. I would not be shocked to see a near-.500 season this year.
