Ive done it, but for some reason it only worked for a little while. Im not sure if my video card freaked out or what happened. But, you need to have the video card capability. Mine is in Display Properties settings, you make the second screen, which is the TV, primary and extend the desktop to both the monitor and the TV.
the resolution is really bad on normal tvs, you have to be back a little bit, (32in projection), like 8 feet or so. Otherwise it hurts your eyes cause everything is pixalated kind of...if that makes sense.

No, that will work. You *might* need to configure your card from windows to use the s-video instead of vga for output. You can get there by right clicking your desktop and going to display.
Just FYI: Svideo is yesterdays technology. You're better off getting a new HDTV which for only a few hundred dollars will usually come with a vga input AND look a hell of a lot better (higher resolution) than your older TV.

Other than the cable, no. You will only get 640x480 max out of it. That is if your TV can go that high. It will not look the best too. Text can be quite blurry unless you make it bigger. You may have to turn on the s-video output or select it for your video source.

it is possible, but the quality will likely suffer. A computer monitor is typically much higher resolution that your TV, especially if you are using s-video, and not HDMI.

Yes you can, but I believe the resolution will only be 800 X 600.
