I just made a backup copy of my DVD movie—when it starts to the main screen I press play and it just repeats back to the main screen. I have made a second copy with the same result. Have you seen this happen before? What’s wrong? My other DVDs play. This is my own DVD so it’s for home entertainment/private use.

Well, if I were to run into that problem while archiving my store-bought DVD's, I'd probably run RipIt4Me and see if that wouldn't fix the problem where the DVD has dummy sectors and whatnot mastered into it, causing various weirdness to occur.

It's free, it's pretty easy, it's updated very frequently. Do a search.

did you finalize the dvd? if it's not finalized, it won't play on any machine other than the one you copied it onto.
