I have had this exact problem, so i asked the vet. I was told that there is a small risk of them transmitting disease, and also, suprisingly, mice might attack the rabbit and hurt it. Its best to get some very fine chicken wire and put it over the top of the wire that is already one the frount of the cage.

Two other things is they will make it hard to tell what your rabbit is eatting and if it is getting a balanced diet. Also the nice maybe attracted into your house as they are already close.

it is very important that you remove the mice from the rabbit hutch and ensure they cannot get back in from now on as your rabbit may be at risk of a disease called VHD (viral haemorrhagic disease) and wild rodents could potentially carry the virus to your rabbit unless he has been vaccinated and the risk will be reduced.disinfect the hutch with a mild bleach solution.

it is very important that you do this as it is a very nasty disease and the symptoms include breathing difficulties, spasms, bloody nasal discharge, groaning and eventually death. mildly affected animals can recover and become immune although some can die a few weeks after apparent recovery. there is no treatment for this disease so you should vaccinate your rabbit if you have not already.

They need to go. Find some way to evict them for your and your rabbits health. They can carry diseases and you can become ill from their poop by inhaling the dust from dried turds like Hantavirus. You can always bring your rabbit inside and let the mice have it's home for a bit. My rabbit lives in the house and oddly we have 2 tame mice in a cage on top of the rabbit cage.

Its hard to keep mice a bay sometimes when you have rabbits. I certainly wouldn't encourage it as mice can carry diseases and mites which can easily be passed to your rabbit. Also mice are quick breeders and their is quite possibly more than four around and by next week plenty more!

Perhaps try looking at keeping them abay especially out the hutch!!

While I doubt you have to worry about them fighting, mice have a knack for having fleas and illness. It is hard to stop them, but for your bunny its best if you do. What we did when we had a mouse problem (my mother ran a rabbit shelter) was to set up 'humane' traps for them. It was the basic bucket with food trick. Simply place a bucket or trash container over a foot high (they can jump really high) with food (noodles, rabbit treats, or peanut butter worked well enough) in a place nearby were they can jump in. Other then that, I wish you luck.
