For nonfiction: Mortimer Adler wrote a famous book called How to Read a Book. It went into 2 editions. I have both and they are really interesting.

Jasper FForde has a series of books about a character named "Thursday Next". Although the books are not about reading a book, the stories are about characters in novels. The first in the series is The Eyre Affair. They are all quite good. Check them out at www.bn.com
