I could come back and say tenants are scummy, bottom-dwelling monsters, liars, cheats, robbers and the **** of the earth too.
Trust me, in the 12 yrs as a property owner and landlord, I have ran into all of them and then some.
Same question back to you!! To tenants: do you enjoy screwing hard working honest landlords that bend over backwards for you tenants??

There are bad and good tenants as well as bad and good landlords. Sounds like you ran into a bad landlord. Dont judge us all like yours as we good landlords fight the bad ones all the time.

you don't say what happened to you specifically so I imagine it was a dispute over rent, or bill or something obviously money right?! landlord doesn't mean they own the building outright - they owe mortgages and utility bills etc. and believe me these companies are less accommodating than landlords. So if you don't pay they have a right to rent to others who'll pay so they in turn can pay their bills. I've had all sorts of tenants including the "professional" kind who know how to screw you to the nth degree. Anyway, if the apt is in bad shape, the govt is always on tenant's side - complain you have the right.

Most tenants think the world owes them something.

Tenants think that they aren't responsible for their own damage, that they shouldn't have to pay their rent on time if they can't afford it, and that we should just be okay with letting them live for free in our houses.

Landlords need to make their mortgage payments too. If you got evicted because you didn't pay your rent, then noone has any sympathy for you, sorry.

Landlords will keep their properties habitable, it is not in their best interest to let them fall apart, since then they would get no money. Tenants just seem to think that the landlord should be paying for every improvement that the tenant would like. Sorry, it's my house, I decide what is done to it.

Most of all: Landlords own the house. They make the rules. If you don't like it, then MOVE!

Work hard, get a good credit rating and be able to buy a house or at least be able to be able to stand up in court and be paid attention to.

You can blame forever but better to get to the point where you never have to worry about this ever again. But yes that would require not having an attitude of blaming others. That would reqiuire education and thinking ahead......... not smoking it up and trying to get laid. Those who think ahead get all of these things and have more fun than just those trying to be "ghetto".

LMAO I'm not a landlord but I just had to say that. I've had my share of landlords just like you've described but thankfully right now my "landlord" is a property management company and they're fairly decent to deal with.

landlords are like everyone else- some are great and some are terrible and some are in between. the problem is they all seem so darn friendly when you first move in and then their true personalities come out. maybe you should start looking for a new place.
