The people who don't like Bob are either deaf or have such low-brow tastes that they think the Byrds version of Mr. Tambourine Man with it's bubble gum sound is better than the original. They are the kind of people who think that Peter, Paul, and Mary's children's version of Blowin' in the Wind is better than Bob's. That's literally children's music. Why don't they go listen to Raffi? I had the unpleasant experience of seeing Bob at the nadir of the Rollin Thunder tour in the early 90's, but having seen him a couple times since '00 I am happy to report that he is awesome as ever now.

I find his voice really annoying, and it's really difficult to work out his lyrics.
And before you damn me for not sharing your taste in music, I have listened to a lot of Dylan.
When I was a student (many years ago!) people used to play Dylan at parties, but it never appealed to me.
I can't understand why people don't like the Pet Shop Boys (intelligent lyrics, good tunes, great videos etc.), but I don't let it bother me.
I have found that as I get older, my taste in music is changing, so I may sit down and put Blonde On Blonde, or Highway 61 on again, and see how I feel now (yes, I do have them on vinyl).
I admire Bob Dylan, and he has made many people think about what they do, but I can't say I'm a fan.

I think he was really big in the sixties with his very feel of the time songs that got him seen as the best song writer of the time that over shadowed everyone else at the time.I like some of Dylan's stuff but when it comes down to song writing Lou Reed comes first in my eyes, maybe it is because Dylan's best songs were made for a certain time and feel with his later songs not hitting the mark, where as Lou Reeds songs are relevant to anytime and have influenced more modern music "Bowie being one of many". Best song he did was Hurricane. Ardent Lou Reed fan.
PS sounds better than Van Morrison

There are two reasons why people don't like him:
1. They haven't really listened to him. They've heard Blowin in the Wind and maybe All Along the Watchtower and say "Hendrix was better and Bob sings bad." But if you sit down and play North Country Girl on your guitar they say "that song is amazing, did you write that?" And then you inform them that Bob did it.
2. They are idiots who would rather listen to AFI or Fallout Boy then good music.

Bob Dylan is brilliant. A true poet of our time and his music will live on forever. So many songs, more than we could mention.
Why don't people like Bob Dylan?
The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind.

The sound of the music doesn't ring that well with me. Neither does his voice...
Lyrics are good.
And I can appreciate the music for what it is, but I am interested in those who REALLY LIKE and REALLY HATE Dylan. It seems to appeal to some more than others.

whoever said dylan was s hippie singer frst off your a dumshit..but tothe question....people who dont like dylan i can accept i guess (not really but people have their opinions)...But at the very least i think everyone should appreciate his talent and amazing contributions to music for the past 40+ years and if u cant, well, you are ignorant and i have no problem being a "music snob" to people like that.

i think he is brilliant..One of the best songwriters ever. I like the way he thinks, the things he sings about, but after half an hour well its all over now baby blue for me....I would always say he is GREAT but i can't listen to him for too long, his voice depresses me..Yet I love him....i usually just play 5 or 6 songs and then get him off and change the tone.....sorry but i do think he is WICKED...just DONT LIKE TO HEAR HIM...FOR LONG....SORRY ...SORRY...SORRY....
The Pet Shop Boys...you are kidding...not in Dylans class Douglas...

As mentioned earlier...it's his nasal vocal style, I find it so irritating. I am that ignorant that I can't even get past this to the content of his lyrics - my brain seems to crash at the first hint of the man!

I grew up with Dylan, didn't like him then, and sure's hell don't like him now. He sounds like he is singing through his nose.... and off key all the time. His lyrics are good, if someone else sings them.
