Only speaking can get you into trouble.
If you are white and bad mouth Jews Muslims Latinos Blacks etc you can be arrested for inciting racial/ethnic hatred, but they can say anything they like about whites under the free speech amendment.
It's PC'ness all screwed up

The answer here will depend on the circumstances.
For example - if a person supports Al Quaeda it would be reasonable to expect that they lose any government employment they may have.
If a person speaks in a manner that other people feel is threatening them in an illegal manner - then that person is subject to arrest.
