He died because Bush lied. That's all old news, I think everyone knows by now there were no WMDs or connections with Bin Laden.

That seriously sucks.
Your uncle died doing what he believed in and helping others. He was helping millions of people to have a chance at a better life.
He died because another group of fanatics who follow a 7th century ideology don't want people to enjoy those freedoms and luxuries that we do, and are doing everything in their power - including murdering as many people as possible - to prevent people from having that same chance.
The thing to remember is this - EVERYONE dies. Always. Not everyone dies doing something they truly love and believe in - Your uncle did. I've been on calls for elderly patients who were simply waiting to die, wasting away in bed. I've been on calls for people who died senslessly; a stroke on the toilet, a car accident after being hit by a drunken moron, an accidental poisoning.
Your uncle died doing his duty for his countrymen and for freedom. That MEANS something.
I don't care what your freakin' politics are here, people. Show some damn respect. Whether you agree or disagree with the war, this man died doing something many of you could never begin to imagine and better than anything most of you - especially the whiners - will ever accomplish.
I know it won't mean much, but I honor your uncle's service, and his sacrifice. And that's something most people will never get.
Hooah!
Respectfully,
Orion

Look to the reasons why he joined the military in the first place. What was his inspiration? What did he want to accomplish? Many who serve do so out of a call to duty and honor. They are asked, so they go. For them, they don't think about questioning it. That's left for the politicians. When the politicians call them home, that's when they put down their guns and go back to a regular life.
I'm truly sorry your uncle died. Grieve. Grieve openly. But try to understand what he was doing from his perspective. If you can, reach out to his buddies in Iraq. I'm sure that they would share a part of your uncle that you never knew existed.

Well you left out alot of info. I suppose we should assume he was in the military.
But for all we know he could have been a civilian working over there as there is quite a few of them.
We could assume he died due to a bomb or shooting. But he could have died of a disease for all we know.
Why don't you provide more info ? to me it appears you are trying to stir things up.
Sorry for your loss either way.

Sorry for your loss. This is an unanswerable question. It is the same question that Cindy Sheehan asked. Reaching out to people in similar circumstances can help. Some would choose to vent the grief by trying (harder?) to end the Dictator Dumbya Big Lie Iraqi Crusade.

I am sorry for your loss. Very sorry indeed. No human life is worth sacrificing in this fiasco of war. Your uncle died for the profit of a few elitists who want to claim the oil fields in Iraq. May God grant peace to you and your family and may this sham of war end as soon as possible.

What was his rank and when was he killed? As much as I hate the war, I also hate it when people are dishonest!
You may not be, however I sense you are not being honest. If wrong I will certainly apologize as there is NO reason anyone should have EVER died in Iraq! They were not terrorist and they had nothing to do with 9/11. Saddam was not nice, but we put him in power! Bush isn't nice either!

I really don't know why and no one here does either although you get a lot of opinions.
I am so sorry though and my heartfelt sympathies goes to the family and all the families who lost love ones in this unfortunate war.

Don't listen to the cliche about Dying for Freedom, that's a bunch of BS...He's a pawn in a power play with many powerful players. People have vested interest in this war but the victims are the people who have had their lives ruined in this lifetime. The Rich and Powerful use battlecries to get the Grunts to charge while they sit back and remain safe...its the ultimate Jedi Mind Trick. I grieve for your loss, but the people in the front lines are real victims here.

I am really sorry to hear that.
there are thousands of Iraqi people asking the same question every day.
no one has an answer for that. only that humans are being treated worse than ants and animals.
it is the power game.
