Everybody who knows me knows I'm gonna tell the truth to any type of question like that.
Which is why I am always amazed when their feelings get hurt because of A) a question THEY asked ME and B) the truthful answer I gave them.
I always end up telling them if they don't want the truth, don't ask the question.

Nope. It's a stupid question anyway - they don't want to know the truth. If they didn't think they were fat, they wouldn't ask.

Well, I sure as heck don't say "you look like 10 pounds of crap shoved into a 5 pound bag" but if they really want to know I can soften it up by saying something like "your just a bit thick"

I figure if it's obvious you gotta step real far back to see all of you in a full length mirror and you ask a question like that you're either stupid or deluded.
