Buy 6- 4X4 posts, 4- 2X4's and 3 deck blocks

Insert 1 end of the 4X4 into the deck block. Do this 3 times until all 3 are standing up. Connect 3 verticle posts by attaching 1- 2X4 between each of 2 posts. Use 3 remaining posts to connect to existing house and other end to 3 verticle posts. Use 2 remaining 2X4's to connect horizontal posts together just like verticles. Cover top frame with tarp for waterproofing roof.

Go to home depot. there is work shops that are offered monthly. That you can do with a group. You and several other people do a whole porch together. But since this is a big project, you show up once a month and finish building it in several months. At the end of the project, someone wins it and gets to bring it home. Also they have great do-it-yourself books.

To give you some good advice on how to build this lean-to, I need a more detailed description of the porch. And what size lean-to you want to build.

Nature has a way of taking care of itself !! So don't worry! Most likely the mother will pick it up by the scruff of its neck & drag them out. Put the pot back on the table or hang it in a tree co's a cat will end up killing everything in the nest if it can get it's paws on it! Note this is one of the reasons I dislike cats!! Cheers!!

Size up your dog/dogs then apply for redneck builders card. Jeff has a good reference book for shack-on-the-porch construction. Pay careful attention to midnight five-finger discounted supply chapter.Tips on chain length(for dogs) is invalueable-exspecially if you wish to receive mail on a daily basis.
