Chemical fertilizers like a box of Walmart "tomato food" will give you good, inexpensive results.
If you want the best, get a good organic fertilizer like the Tomatoes Alive product from Garden's Alive.

Make a "tea" out of horse manure and beer, water with this about once a week, and you will have more tomatoes than the neighborhood can eat.
