the last two years of high school are all A's but the SAT is just nerve reckoning. when i took it before the SAT changed i felt so much presure on me i nearly had a melt down especially when you don't want to disappoint the family. so i know where she's coming from.

I think I took it twice and the highest I got was a 1050... I got accepted to all the cal states I applied for and ended up going and graduating from cal state fullerton. I took the test in 1999 tho so things may have changed. I think they look at how good you did in highschool and what extracurricular activies you were involved in. If she wants to get into a UC system I think she would need a better score. If she is not sure about what to major in, I would recommend starting in a Junior College instead of wasting money and time in a Cal State or UC taking random classes not knowing what you want to do in the future. Having good grades in a Junior College could make it a better/easier transition to a better college rather than straight from highschool with a not so high SAT score.

Sherry, don't worry about the SAT. Its a total joke. really. I didn't do well and I went to PSU and graduated on time and landed a great job in NY. Don't sweat the small stuff. Really. Its not the end of the world. You will hear people saying how hard they studied and they took the prep course, bla bla bla. Some people no matter how hard they try to study will not do well on the test that is just how it goes. I don't test well. i took the prep course for that and to get into graduate school and it didn't help I took the test 2x and got the same score. Some people are just really good test takers and others aren't.

The test now is very different . it has essay questions, i believe.
