I have a 20 day cycle, and a 5 day period, I was wondering if anyone has a short cycle and has conceived, and had a healthy baby? how long were you ttc?

Yep, Mellisa is correct. As far as having a healthy baby that is up to mother nature, it has nothing to do with your cycle of ovulation.

I had PCOS so it took us a long time to conceive.

However the earliest I ever ovulated was on cycle day 9 and I had a 21 day cycle that time. You should have no problem if you are ovulating early. It really goes by your luteal phase which is the time between ovulation and your next period. Your luteal phase should be at least 10 days but preferably at least 12 days. The best way for you to tell exactly when you ovulate and how long your luteal phase is is to chart your basal body temperature which is simply your temperature upon waking up in the morning. It needs to be taken the same time of day and with at least 3 hours of sleep. You can chart your temps for free at www.fertilityfriend.com. Good luck!

According to some *experts* a 20 day cycle is too short when TTC.But then again that's mostly based on the 28 day cycle rule and as we all know women rarely have *natural* perfect 28 day cycles. You need to figure out how long your luteal phase is..if it's under 10 days then you may have a LPD and that can cause problems ttc.See your ob/gyn and discuss this with them.I was having 24 day cycles and we have been ttc for 15 months.I started taking B6,B complex and Vitex and my cycles have lengthened to 27 days with a 13 day luteal phase.Doesn't help all women but something to look into.HTH..Good Luck

With a short cycle you actually have more fertile times a year than a person with an average length cycle of 28 days. This is because you ovulate more frequently.
