Save up some money and by a good set of heads.
Get the distributor and EEC-IV unit out of some late seventies 302, and have it re-curved, to pack in the timing advance faster.
I would probably go with the 4V HI-PO cam., with the little extra weight added under the lower chain sprocket ( if you can still find those ) ( it was a Shelby thing ) and the fat push rods.
Have the crank. indexed, and grab some of those factory shorty headers off a '85 Mustang GT.
Lighter steel flywheel.
Throw in a 7 quart pan and a windage screen.

One thing you can do is get performance headers, and a better cam shaft. A performance intake would be helpful as well. All of these things are not too expensive and will make a big difference in your engine. I personally would suggest selling it and going with a 302. And I hope you are keeping it in a Ford! :)

Sounds like a ford.. small 8 cylinder they put in old mustangs
if so its a good engine. Add a 4 barrel, bore out the head and cylinders and put in bigger ones. Makes for more compression and more horse power = faster. Also put in a high performance air system ie.. K&N High Performance Air Intake Kit
