We bought a black morr and paired it with a goldfish with in 48 hours there was a big bubble to come out of the black morr and then the water got cloudy. After cleaning the tank and changing the water I noticed that there was this long red string of something coming out it's back end. Within 8 hours it died. I went back to the store explained what happened and they said that the fish was probably just sick so I bought a second black morr. Now it is has the same red string coming out its back end. Everything is fine with the tank so is it just the fish or is something wrong? This fish I've had for four days now and it started the string thing the day I brought it home. Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

Don't buy any more fish from that store. It sounds like their tanks are all infected and if they are still selling fish from them you're likely to have more problems.

Also, I'm sorry to say it, but because those fish were in with your goldfish, your goldfish will probably get sick. Goldfish and black moors are the same species of fish (just like chihuahuas and Doberman Pinchers are the same species), so they can catch all the same diseases.

When you get a new fish it is a good idea to keep it in a separate tank for a couple of weeks until you're sure it is healthy. This is called a quarantine tank. Some people go ahead and treat all new fish with antibiotics in the quarantine tank to be sure they are safe to put in with their other fish.

Now, the red string- any chance it could be brown? It might be simple feces... all fish have to poop and it comes out like a string in goldfish.

The bubble that came out of the first black moor- on what area o f its body did it occur? It may have been a bacterial infection, a parasite or several other things depending on what it looked like and where it was.

You certainly have another sick fish on your hands. I would return it to the same store and explain all over again what has happened and ask for a refund or a credit. I also wouldn't be in a big hurry to get another fish from that store anytime soon. Try getting a new moor fom another shop in your area.

Assuming the store will not take it back, first never darken their doors again would be my policy and second you will need to get some medicated food for parasites. It may take a while to clear but you should be able to save the fish.

thats a classic sign of worms, if the string is long. if its kinda short, it may just be poo, on an underfed fish
