If I were walking along the Nile River and a hurricane came upon me, should I cross the river over the nearest bridge or wait for it settle down and go back to my cabin?
Other suggestions are welcome.

A hurricane would be a very ,very rare occurrence in Egypt.
Also bridges across the Nile are few and far between.
Due to the strong currents from July to September, you would find it pretty hard going to swim across. In some places it is very wide ,comparable with the Amazon or the Mississippi rivers. In others it would be impossible to get to the waters edge, unless you jumped of a cliff into the water.
As the Ancient Temples have withstood earthquake and mans attempts at destruction. I would head for the nearest I could and go down into the lowest chambers.
Properly much safer than a cabin, if there were such a thing on the banks of the Nile.
Alternately get on the lee side of a rocky outcrop and dig a hole in the sand.
You would need to protect your body well in some way, as the sand carried in the wind would sandblast your skin from your body in a few minutes.
Good Luck in any hurricanes you come across!
