Install a water conditioner in the water inlet, regularly clean the filter of all debris, add a Calgon tablet to the wash once a week if you use the machine every day, make sure the salt dispenser has salt (not cooking salt) and the rinse-aid dispenser has a quality product like Finish. Ensure that you scrape off as much left over food scraps, fish bones etc, before loading.
This should guarantee a sparkling finish.

Could be a low water fill problem or maybe a water temperature problem. "The water should be at least 120 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit to start with. Gel soaps can cause a lot of problems with scum and leaving a white residue, mostly when there is not enough water in the dishwasher. After it fills there should be water almost up to the heating element. Also look for the water draining by itself."

It could be you live in a hard water area in which case you need to run your dishwasher empty wiht a packet of soda crystals in it or a reputable descaling agent (there are various ones on the supermarket shelves that will do the job)
You should do this at least once a month.

If you're not already, try some JetDry. Follow the directions for use carefully.
Other than that...
Switch detergents.
You may have hard water. Either solve house-wide with a water softener OR use a detergent that's specially made for this.
Pre-wash dishes. You may have tiny bits of food getting redeposited.

Hard water and/or lack of proper detergent and/or poor rinse cycle can all add up. Try adding a 1/4 cup of vinegar to the 1st rinse cycle to see if things improve. If they do then add 2 Tbl. spoons of vinegar to the final rinse-careful here, a little goes a long way.Water softners may allow you to use less detergent and much less vinegar.Listen to your machine for proper filling, cycle time and thourough draining between cycles. Poor filling and draining will severely cripple wash and rinse action.

This happens when the water has a lot of minerals. I bet you use well water. Add rinsing agent (Jet Dry) to the rinse container in the door.

Sounds like your water not your machine. Could be hard water. You need something to soften the water. That should help.
