If you own the house, buy it.

If you're renting, then it depends on how long you plan on staying.

In terms of value, buying will save you a ton of money. Depending on how much water you use, you can get one for maybe $750 (Cdn). The only benefit to renting is that you will never have to worry about it if a problem arises (and you won't have to install it).

Definitely buy. Renting anything is just a waste of money.

just buy it. i live in a town that is the headquarters of the water softener industy...very bad rust...everyone i know just had to buy one of them. they never needed updating or quit working, they are a must and you can buy one for under 1,000 dollars!!

i would rent it at first because you dont know what kind of menerials .how much caliciam .etc..then you know excactly what you need ,and for how much .
