Because if it were any different, we wouldn't be here to ask & answer this question. That's just the way of the universe. There is no true answer as to "why". It's called the Anthropic Principle.

Sound is composed of compressed pulses of air which is a gas and so slows down the speed. Each molecule of air has mass and therefore inertia (resistance to movement) that has to be overcome by the pulses. Light is composed of photons which are pure energy which have no mass and thus travel at the speed of energy which is much faster than sound.

Physics says so.

Sound is actually a rippling of energy across molecules, such as air or water.

Light is simply energy passing on through, not needing to hit molecules to keep going.

Because light (photons) is made up of high-energy particles/waves (depends on which you believe), whereas sound is based on particles bouncing off eachother, and the inertia of larger particles makes it move slower compared with light which is believed to have 0 mass (I don't believe it though cause EVERYTHING must have mass to exist).
