I have to agree that penalties for child molestation are much too light. That is changing but it will take a long time. The big problem with prosecuting victims of molestation is they are young and are often thought to be lying or stretching the truth. Lawyers have a field day with them.
Chances are they weren't able to prove the rape charge in a court of law but were able to prove another offense and for that he got the maximum penalty allowable which was two months. Even as laxed as the laws are towards child molesters, he wouldn't have gotten two months for raping a child for years. Unless this crime is from 10-15 (+) years ago. It's only recently that they are starting to throw the book at these monsters.
As far as the woman tossing a cup of ice at another car, there must be a lot more to this story than you know. It sounds more like a headline than the actual facts. Tossing the cup of ice must have not been all that she did. This could have been part of a hate crime or been considered a road rage crime, spouse abuse or harassment, stalking . . . the list goes on.
Our laws are messed up in America but that's not really the fault of the law makers as it is the legal system. Smart lawyers can manipulate and find loop holes to get light sentences or no sentences for the most terrible crimes. But that is there job regardless of guilt or innocence. They can go to jail if they don't represent their client properly. They don't gain respect for losing.

A cup of ice thrown at a moving vehicle could kill people. I think a 2 year sentence is okay.
The only just punishment for rape (legitimate rape, not sex between a 19 year old and a 17 year old) is death.
The judge in the Vermont case should be put into general population in prison so that he can be raped for years and see what it is like.

There are a million of these....the schoolteacher who slept with her 13-year-old student got NO jail time, while a man who held a 14-year-old girl by the arm to prevent her from leaving the scene of an accident gets jailtime and a sex-predator label.
'Justice' is hard to swallow sometimes.

before everything, the punishment is "as much as two years". the definitely sentence would be no longer something of the type. she would be in a position to possibly get sentenced to time served plus a small high quality and can desire to bypass to counselling, which she seems to confirm on. the different guy needs a ************. 40,000 human beings a 12 months die on the roads, due usually to a hundred% preventable injuries brought about via idiots like him.

You need to include a source. There has to be more to the story. I agree that the laws are not necessarily fair but we need to know the facts in order to form a rational opinion.

I don't have any sympathy for her. She could have caused the driver to lose control and have a fatal accident. And the person who committed rape should serve a life sentence.

Do you have a link to this story? If this is true it is an outrage.
