I live in Texas and I have no clue what you are talking about I love The U.S.
I take offense to the people who would like to see it go I am a born and breed American and believe in the laws. I also believe that illegal immigration should be looked into closer and our borders should be more secure.
I am also not a redneck I live close to Houston don't own a horse.
Drive a car, work at a chemical plant and my husband has a Mohawk!
Also not very many people here are your John Wayne types

Texas is not leaving the country any time soon. There is a radical group in Texas called the Republic of Texas that claims there was something wrong with the annexation and that Texas is its own country (as it was from 1836-1845 before it was annexed into the US). They are a very small group and are pretty much laughed at by the rest of Texas.
But...that being said, you might hear Texans say that they can break away from the United States at any time if it the country gets too crazy. Some believe this is in the state constitution, but it isn't (see source). The thought just represents that Texas can sustain itself, as it has the largest defense in the US (Ft. Hood, the largest base in America, plus tons of other bases, and Lockheed Martin, which manufactures fighter jets and missiles and such), the only state with its own electric grid, leader in oil and gas (Exxon, Valero), NASA, electronics (Texas Instruments and Dell), is the base for many other major companies (American Airlines), has one of the largest international airports (DFW) and sea port (Houston), and traditionally exports more products than any other state. It's proud of its capabilities, but extremely patriotic. The only thing the constitution allows that other states don't is that it has the choice to break into 5 states, which Texas loves being big, so that will never happen. Remember, everything is bigger in Texas. :-)

We're not planning on going anywhere. They probably just heard that Texas is the only state that can actually secede from the United States and then assumed that we will secede. Not true. Texas can secede because we were actually a republic before we joined the U.S...Just so all of yall know. And yall shouldn't speak bad about Texas unless yall have been here. And yes, I'm saying yall a lot just to emphasize that I am a Texan and yes, I like rubbing it in people's faces. : )

For all of the rest of ignorant American public out there, Texas has historically been a DEMOCRATIC state. Just because Bush lives there doesn't mean that all Texans are radical right-wingers. (BTW, Bush was born in New Haven, CONNECTICUT.) So, you know, people seriously need to stop judging others without looking at the facts. As for Texas seceding from the union, that's rediculous. I'm sorry you were told that, but think about it logistically: A) Where would they go? B) Why would they go? C)How would they get there?
So no, there is no secession in the works.

I'm pretty sure that you were taking their joke as a serious matter. Texas doesn't want to leave the U.S. even though they may be ashamed of Bush!

Oh yeah, I heard that from my cousin's sister's best friend's daughter's brother's neice's son in law. He said the same thing. I'm just curious as to where he heard that from. After all, he is only in middle school.
