The NL Central is one of the weakest divisions in baseball so there's a good chance the Cards could go to the playoffs.
I do not like the pitching they settled with but if Mulder can be ready by or right after the All-Star break, who knows.
Duncan HAS to produce for a full season like he did for half last year. That will mean a lot if he does. A healthy Rolen and Edmonds to help Albert will help as well. If those guys produce they can overcome the mediocre guys in the lineup.
Cubs fans, what else can you say but losers. The Cubs spent all their money on offense and didn't get any real pitching. Woods and Prior = Mash Unit, DL City!
To you Tigers fans, uhhh where is the 2006 WS Trophy at now?
Not in Detroit is it? So say all you want about how lucky the Cards got, the bottom line is you're boys lost and the Cards won!

Let me ask you this. How often do teams repeat as champions anymore? The Cardinals got lucky last year in the playoffs with a few players playing much better than they had all year. Weaver, Suppan, Molina, to name a few. Don't get me wrong, I like the Cardinals, I believe Pujols will own many power records before his career is done but the chances of any team repeating are slim.

It is difficult to repeat winning the world series, hasn't been done in the last 7 tries.
With Tony LaRusso as the coach you can pretty much be assured that the Cardinals will be competitive "also rans" and not winners. Last year was a freak and it won't likely repeat anytime soon.
Besides Tony is having mental issues - why else would he try and hide behind sunglasses in a dugout? Anyone who is a lawyer and does what he does for a living is got to be a little goofy.

It's been a long time since a team repeated as WS Champs.honestly I dont see it,but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.I Love The Birds on the Bat.I believe they win the Central and in the first round of the playoffs but either the Mets or the Phillies will knock them off

Being a cardinals fan i would say they have just as good of chance as anybody. Last year i wasn't sure about there pitching but they showed that it was good enough, and i think this years team is gonna be more complete now that Molina is hitting the ball and they finally have a solid 2nd basemen with Adam Kennedy it should be a good season.

Slim to none.
They barely won their division due to their releif pitching, and they have done nothing to remedy the situation. The Reds added pitching and the Astros are healty. They were just lucky in 2006 because they got hot at the right time, the Astros could not overcome their horrendous start, and the Reds got hurt at the end of the year.

Very slim. They didn't win it last year: the Tigers lost it. Unless an American League team gives an NL team a gift like 5 errors by their pitchers, then it's doubtful any NL team will win, much less a team that was barely .500 like the Cardinals.

Well, I see a legitimate playoff run. Either division or wildcard. Series, well, thats eight months away. Well, have to see how the starting rotation is going to shape up. Also, we still do not know the starting lineup for outfield.

I think their chances are very good. As a Cubs fan I'm hoping that our new manager, Lou Piniella, will take the Cubs to the Series, but still, the Cards look tough to beat.
