inmate finds lawyer, who is also an inmate, how can you find out if he really is a lawyer?

All lawyers are licensed with the state they practice in. Check with the local Bar Association.

Call the Supreme Court for the state he is licensed in. They will tell you if he IS licensed, and if he is in "good standing" (fees paid, no disbarment, etc.).

You can also call your state's Attorney Disciplinary Board (usually a department of the state Supreme Court), to see if the lawyer has been discplined or disbarred.

if your lawyer is an inmate, that is not a good sign

Look in the phone book under Bar Association,usually it is in the yellows pages under attorneys phone numbers.Good luck.
