it could be the tyres, if they're cheap ones, but its more likely that one of your wheels is buckled. put the spare on one side and go for a run, see if it fixes it, if not, put that wheel back on and put the spare on the other side, or swap the back and front tyres completely.Just to be sure, i'd have the garage check the ball joints on the bottom and top of the hub mounting also, and the wheel bearings, although the latter is somewhat doubtable as it only occurs at high speed, but they'll have to jack it up anyway, so never waste an opportunity

If the tyres have been balanced properly then it should not be the tyres. VR wobble is what they were talking about. Check the tyre pressures are correct and the same both sides approximatly 32 psi each corner. Check tyres are not directional and you have one on the wrong way round.
Has the tracking been checked of not consider having this done. Finally what about the track rod ends and steering rack bushes, wheel bearings and suspension struts. Mechanic needs to have a look at it to determine if something is worn or bent.

Yes, an imperfection in the tires could cause this, but they likely wouldn't have balanced properly if this were the case. Have your tires dismounted and inspected; an imperfection could lead to a blowout, which would be dangerous at 80mph.

It can be the tires but it can also be your suspension. It may be that something might be loose and needs to be tightened. Ask the garage about this.
