Simpsons do nothing to harm society. Most of the humor involved just mirrors the actual state of our society satirically. The drunk overweight father, selfinterested schools, corrupt corporations and government employees. Look in your local news and you'll see the same topics, just slightly less humorous--though don't get me wrong the antics of the average washington politico is pretty amusing. so no simpsons don't impact our society in any negative way it just depicts how negative our society really is

if there was that type of deconstruction maybe it was in the original first couple of seasons, any more it just repeats itself and preaches as if it were some nut case on a soap box in the middle of a college campus,,, people just stop to watch for a minute, laugh at the stupidy and move on,,,

I suppose it depends on whether or not the people who watch it try to imitate things in it. This is like asking whether Tom and Jerry make kids want to hit each other with pots and pans, or try smoking just because they saw it in a cartoon. Generally I think people realize that it's a humorous cartoon, and if you can't distinguish between comedy/fiction and reality, then I guess you shouldn't watch it.

They just portray it... and Americans (and most of the occidental world) felt identified with them for a reason, they can't be that wrong... at least, I can see my mom and dad in Marge and Homer, specially my mom!!!!
