I assume that you are asking about the 1735 trial of John Senger for seditious libel. His was a landmark case because his acquittal established important case law regarding freedom of the press and reinforced the idea that as long as a reporter/newspaper published the truth, they were fairly safe from being prosecuted for seditious libel or just plain libel.
