Both utilize "My Yahoo" as home page. Both engage P/U blockers furn. by yahoo. Both use Windows 2000 program. Both computers about 4 yrs old. & use the same DSL modem both in same room and the width of the room apart. Pop blocker works on one and not the other. What do I do to stop pop up ads?

As the computer is booting press your "F8 Key" repeatly which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" . Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

After into safe mode,run a anti-spyware to killllllllll the spyware and adware on you pc.

Sounds like you have some spyware on one of them. Download Adaware from lavasoft.com and run the scan. I would suggest this program for both computers as it could not hurt. Adaware has received great reviews over the years and was one of the top ten downloads from downloads.com.

The reason this maybe happening is you visited a site that added some spyware onto your computer.

Good luck I think this will take care of your problem, those darn pop ups suck.

Are you sure that they are pop-up the new thing for spammers is pop-over’s. Each computer has probably gone to different sites and that is probably the issue. I had the same problem, my wife on hers and me on mine. Make sure in your Internet option under privacy settings on both computers that the check box is check for blocking pop-ups. I found that some spammers have found a way to clear that check box, or that my wife has figured a way for me to update her computer more often. Ha. Good luck.
