whats the best and cheapest way to have internet, and or email access, wireless, globally?

i travel to different countries, and remote areas in the u.s. i dontreally want a whole computer. what device is best for this

Right now, a Motorola Q with Windows Mobile.
In a few months, it will be the Apple iPhone.

i have an IPAQ 5915, it is awsome. Bluetooth, Wlan and GPS.
