It all depends on the type of furnace, (gas or electric, water, steam or hot air, etc) and what is wrong with it. call your local gas and electric company and get an estimate. They will likely want to sell you a maintenance policy, which may not be a bad idea, after they fix it and get it in good shape.

Look in the yellow pages under "Heating" There are probably some companies with ads there. Call them and ask for their fees.
