Yahoo has work repeatedly to help the Chinese block free speech and punish those who attempt to practice free speech in china. GOOGLE and others do NOT allow influence from governments unless forced. Yahoo voluntarily helps block free speech and turns in violators. WHY? need more info?http://rconversation.blogs.com/rconversation/2005/09/yahoo_chinese_c.html

uhm, dude.. you have no clue what your talking about... you need to research this more before you start talking about it..

remember Tianement Square?

China censors everything, including the internet...
google china is censored, and Google nor Yahoo censors it, the government censors it and Google and Yahoo hafta obide by it, or else they get thrown in china's prison...

watch...

go to China USA's website, and search tianement square..

ive already done it for you here:
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&sa=N&resnum=0&q=tiananmen%20square&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&tab=wi

In the images section you see military tanks sieging the square and killing thousands of innocent college protestors, all of which is clearly told about in non-biased, third party history books..

Now, if you go to Google China's website, and search tianement square...

ive already done it for you here:
http://images.google.cn/images?complete=1&hl=zh-CN&q=tiananmen+square&btnG=%E6%90%9C%E7%B4%A2%E5%9B%BE%E7%89%87&gbv=2

you see kids smiling, fireworks, all just positive images..
you dont see ANY of the protests, you dont see ANY of the military murdering thousands of innocent college students...

i mean if you look at this picture, you see a woman cleaning between tiles, which is supposed to show how clean and peaceful and detailed the square is...
http://english.people.com.cn/200504/12/images/0411_C56.jpg

i mean when you see this picture, you're supposed to think to yourself, "WOW what a beautiful place, they even clean between tiles... I love living in China under this peaceful communist leader. We are clearly the most beautiful, peaceful country in the world."

However, in reality, on the Google USA's website.. you see what really happened in Tianement Square...

you see a tanks trying to enter Tianement Square to forcefully end the protest, and a brave man symbollicly standing infront of the tanks.
http://www.manbottle.com/pictures/tiananmen_square.jpg

And you CERTAINLY dont see this picture which shows exactly what horror occured in Tianament Square one day in China under a communist dictator's rule...
http://www.fpp.co.uk/online/04/06/images/Tiananmen_square_tanks.jpg

Nor the harmless people who died as a result of the attack...

Yahoo is no different..

USA Yahoo-
http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=tiananmen+square&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

China Yahoo-
http://cn.news.yahoo.com/search1.html?p=Tianement+Square&pid=ysearch&ei=UTF-8&source=ysearch_web_hp_button&z=&title=
Tianement Square? Never heard of it. No Comment.

The governments censor the info... not the companies, such as Yahoo.CN or Google.CN...

And if one of them didnt obide by the censorships.. they would be either killed or thrown in jail forever.

Free Speech...in China? First off they are NOT protected by the Constitution. Nor are the people so protected. And last time I checked Yahoo! is a private company and so being a private company they can do with the information as they see fit.

Yahoo is not a government agency, and can limit speech as often as it likes, because it is a private entity. Those who don't like the policy don't have to use the service.

While I think it is reprehensible to do what you claim they are doing, they have the right to do it.

By the way, if I'm not mistaken, Google does limit searches in China in accordance with their contract with that government.

No respect for the treasure which is the freedom of speech. It is disturbing for US companies to eagerly hinder the sovereign rights of the Chinese people. Money is the root of all this evil.
