Let me get this straight. You would advocate that people like Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet and all the other billionaire and millionaires shouldn't pay taxes or have minimal taxes? And, the rest of us have to be slaves to the state? Sorry buddy, I don't buy it. That is exactly what Bush and his base want. No taxes for the rich, but in fact, giving them huge tax cuts and giving them huge government subsidies and kickbacks, while the middle class work their butts off for the boss and pay for everything. Your theory is already at work and you don't even realize it. I say tax the rich at the same rate as the 1950's and tell them they are the ones that have benefitted the most from living in this country by having more of their fair share of access the best that this country offers, therefore they SHOULD pay more.
Your idea is punative to the working people of this country and shows a huge disrespect to the people who made the rich in the first place...the worker. The American worker works harder than most workers in the Western world and you would want them to work even harder for less and less wages that they are already getting. Not only are their wages being driven down due to competition with the slave wages of China but now you want to tax them more than the rich. Wow, I really hope the neo-cons don't catch on to your hare brained idea, they might just be nuts enough to believe it. After all, they believed in the idiotic ideas of Milton Friedman.

Because the successful ones are carrying the burden of the taxes in the US. By pushing those extra taxes (because God forbid the government cut back on it's bloated spending) onto the "failed" people, those people will have to overcome those taxes AND get successful......

Not to mention, if everyone is successful, you will just have to be twice as successful to remain tax free because the bar will keep being raised.

beacuse the top income bracket pays 70% of the total income taxes, so cutting taxes would result in lost income that the government really needs right now.

Kurt, are you a little on the crazy side? How do you think the country would operate? That is one of the silliest things I have ever heard. Those who are 'successful' need to be taxed more.

Why 'don't' make everyone work hard to get rich, and then cut taxes for them.

So you think that people don't work hard if they don't make as much money as you do?

Interesting theory. Self-absorbed, but interesting.
