Me too! Haven't seen my ex in 5 years. In that time, I've gotten married and I heard he has too. Suddenly about 2 months ago, I started seeing him pop up in my dreams! Maybe you're feeling nostalgic about a period in your life? Maybe he represents something you feel you've become disconnected with? Well, good luck!

Whether or not your present life is happy, you are bound to have dreams about the past of which ex was a part. It comes in some form or the other. The loose ends of previous life come in some modified and twisted form. How it all ended and how new life began, it all has a subconscious ramifications and these appear in the form of dream. You cannot derive meanings from them and there is no question of revisiting the past in a conscious state. But dreams are largely uncontrollable. So, no special importance of should be attached as many of the fleeting thoughts in conscious mind are set aside.

Yep. I didn't dream about my ex until I started dating my new boyfriend. My ex and I have been apart for a year now and I have dreams about him but I also have dreams about exes that are from 4 years ago. Not much you can do, it's your subconscious. I have heard that if you tell yourself what you want to dream about before you go to bed then you will have that dream. But, I've never tried this so I don't know if it works.

I was married for 18 years out of my 41 on this planet. I am frankly surprised that I never dream about him at all. I do dream frequently of my live-in love, I guess because I sleep right next to him and his warmth permeates my sleep.

Hell, yeah! I went through it. It was sporadic for me. I would have dreams (if thats what you could call 'em) off and on for the next four years. I found myself super depressed over it but gradually the pain goes away. If your ex was foul in your breakup, your subconscious might be calling out for some kind of closure. If it was you, possibly your having guilt issues. Either way, face yor pain, walk through the fire, and begin the rebuild.

Yes, I dreamt about having sex with her, then she tries to kill me, then we have sex again and she jumps out the window naked and gets killed on the pavement..
Complicated and disturbing dream, although the sex part felt good. They stopped after about 4 years..

yeah, pretty much but it dies down once you decide to get over the relationship. as for handling it, remember that dreams are just an extension of your subconscious. dreams are not always reality, they just remind oneself of portions of it. :) just keep the good memories. i'm sure you have lots of them.
