This is true most larger sites track IP addresses as they are concerned who is logging into their site and curios if they are returning.

If you are visiting sites and are concerned about the content that is on the site not being completely above board, I would suggest you not plan on running for office anytime soon. If you are concerned that they will launch attack on your computer I would not worry to much about that as most IP addresses these days are not static IP's which means it changes all the time.

If you are concerned about them inputing cookies on your system I would suggest what the second guy told you and delete your cookies as well download adaware as it will clean your registry as well.

Almost every website keeps logs, but they would need to know your IP address to know that you visited. They may be able to track you with cookies as well - check your cookies and see if there is one from this site, if there is delete it and configure your browser to deny cookies from this site.

Just about all websites track the number of visitors and their IP addresses. If you don't want them to know it was you use a proxy server.
