i only have duct tape and need to ship this box. seems like no one uses duct tape on cardboard, so is it a viable option?

Duct tape doesn't hold onto cardboard very well. Even if they took it, you wouldn't want your box coming open in the middle of shipping.

Here's a quote from the USPS web site:

"Always use shipping tape. Duct tape will not be accepted."

good luck

I sell on ebay and ship stuff every other day.
The post office WILL NOT take a box with duct tape.

I notice several folks are confusing UPS, with USPS...the United States Postal Service.

I believe the US Postal Service requires packages to be taped with clear, or brown packing tape, but you can call your local post office to verify. If nothing else, take it to the post office, and they can tape it for you.

It works fine, but they don't want it. UPS has all the boxes and tape you need. What if FedX merged with UPS? Would they call it Fed Up?

its defiantly a viable solution-we ship UPS internationally and we use duct tape for our heavier shipments-go for it!
