Yea it's a lot of running and skirmishes, depends on position tho. I played stopper/sweeper for 9 years and they had me practicing challenges, and organizing my defense. And we'd practice corner defenses.
It might seem odd, but they also had me practicing penalty kicks, both because I should know the offensive player's point of view, and because they knew I had a strong foot and I could be put in the lineup to take goal kicks on a shootout. Sweeper's need to kick for distance...

we soccer players go thorugh all types of training. we do gym work like weights to build up muscles in our legs and upper body. we do running ,circuit training and all other types of training to keep fit.
