something nice and professional , for causal dress jeans and t shirt. most intelectuals dress for utilitarian reasons because it's more about use than style. Or you realize you can break socal moreys and folkways and have fun with that. However, I think it is genuinely a more conservative look. Why not just dress the way you like to that is what it really gets down to. Who are you? What do you like? You shouldn't have to wear something stiff and boring if that isn't you. Hence how an intelectual would look at it. I buy clothes for utilitarian purposes or becuase I know it will last more than a fall's fasion season.

Sleek hair in a bun. Wear basic colors. Gray is a good choice. A line skirts... over the knee or pants with a white button up shirt. Wear simple jewelry like a diamond chip... no hoops. Kitten or high heel.

Dress professional...white collard shirt, nice black jacket, hair in a pulled back bun and some glasses...hah!! Thats how someone smart dresses!

Go for a conservative dress and style. Don't be overly flashy. Be minimalist with jewelry and makeup. Choose colors that match and are darker and quiet rather than loud and bright. Choose heels over sneakers (unless you have a physical handicap).

Two things will make you look like an intellectual. No matter what you wear, make sure it is tailored. Pair a suit or anything rather, with high heels. Please make sure the high heels go with your outfit. It will make or break you. Think "The Devil Wears Prada."

Wear business suits, have your hair tidy, and makeup light. You'll exude confidence. Try it, you'll see how differently people treat you. Esp. as a woman, it's how you are taken seriously (SORRY, but true unless you are in advertising or modeling!)

Pick who you want to impress, and dress in a similar fashion.
Obviously they, dress smartly, so if your wearing similar clothes they will think you dress smartly too.
