I would like to write my paper on either John Bunyan or C.S. Lewis. We have to write a paper about a specific period/genre in literature and we have to include one specific author and his works, as well as the events/surroundings that inspired his works. Who should I pick out of either of those two men? Both were writing in fascinating circumstances and wrote great works. I'm just interested to see what you think I should do (and don't worry, I'm not going to use any of this in the paper. I just want an objective opinion).

I don't know much about Bunyan, but I have spent a while reading Lewis' works and learning about his life.

World War I and II are always interesting time periods to write about, and both his being in the war (the Great War) and his harboring children during the second war had a great impact upon his books--especially his fiction works.

I would say C.S lewis, as there has been a lot of renewed intrest in his work as of late because of the movies and what not. Also the recent comparisons to Harry Potter can serve as an intersting point of the relevence of his books today and thier influence on Childrens/Young Adult literature. There is also the often explored religious symbolism that is found throughout Lewis' work and that can be an interesting avenue even if you arent a terrible religious person.

But when it comes down to it i agree with the person before me...go with your gut...figure out which one you are most interested in because that is the paper you will put the most effort into, make it fun not a chore and you will do better! Good Luck

I always say to go with your gut on choosing a paper topic. It will serve you better in the long run, especially when you start to run out of energy. However, have you considered doing a paper that incorporates similarities between both authors?
