Because most of us aren't born and blessed with perfect skin. We have things like blemishes, blotchy skin, uneven tone, etc... that we would rather not have. So we use foundation (and even concealer) to cover the imperfections.
The end result is ideally the appearance of perfect skin, without a heavily made up look.

The point of foundation is to enhance what you already have. That being said, if you have a lot of acne, don't use foundation. The same goes for dry skin and really oily skin. Therefore, you should treat your imperfections first, THEN use foundations for your skin type. Cleanse, exfoliate, tone, and moisturize. Foundation is also used to give the appearance of an even skin tone. If you feel that foundation is ridiculous, try a tinted moisturizer. I recommend visiting someone at a cosmetics counter to find the best alternative for you. Good luck!

foundation is supposed to give the illusion of perfect, flawless skin. if u weren't born with it u use foundation to make it seem that way. unfortunately some women put 3-4 times the "natural look" amount and end up cake faced. u only need a lil bit, well blended, color matched foundation to make it look natural.

A lot of women have blotchy, blemished skin and most of us will use foundation to even out our skin tone. My mom and little sister have what I like to call the "perfect" complexion. Their skin is so even and smooth. Unfortunately, I have had skin problems all of my life. Im 28 years old and still suffer from the occasional breakout and my skin is very oily. I use an oil free foundation and concealer to even out my uneven skin tone.

Foundation is great because it helps achieve the 'normal' looking skin - flawless, smooth and perfect!
Some people say they do not want to look normal however we do like 'normal' skin.
It hides any imperfections and makes you look like a antural beauty!

The point of foundation is to look flawless naturally. Your skin is to look clean and fresh not cakey or discolored. Its important to find the right shade that matches your complexion, if you get one slightly off it will be noticeably. They call that line on your jaw "the line of demarcation"....its important to not get one of those. My skin isn't that bad naturally, I use to to cover up the redness.

i doesnt look like your wearing anything but it even outs the different colours of skin tones on your face and smooths the fine lines (not saying you got wrinkles but everyone has fine lines). it also makes other makeup stay on for longer.

You want it to look as natural as possible but most women have blemishes... or in my case freckles that i would like to tone down a bit.. but you don't want it to look like you put it on with a putty knife..
